Job Summary:
Manages pharmacy technicians and various operations of the department. Demonstrates through behavior Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision and values.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Uses aseptic technique to accurately prepare IV medications. Refills pyxis accurately; including pulling correct medication from stock, appropriate quantity, complies with check off procedures, correctly places product in nursing are pyxis-verifying quantitites and expiration date. Checks in daily medication order and appropriately processes items and invoices. Aware of process for missing items or special order items. Ensures all medications are properly stored. Assists with quality management as directed: current with assigned unit inspections, PI projects, area cleaning, process out of date medications, crash cart inspections. Accurately labels and/or packages medications; including patient specific items, unit dosing, compounding. Makes timely deliveries of medications to patient care areas. Answers the phone in a courteous manner and directs calls as appropriate. Assists with training new employees.
Qualifications:
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Certification with PTCB required.
Registration:
Must be registered with AL State Board of Pharmacy and in good standing
Experience:
Three years of Hospital Pharmacy Technician experience preferentially- experience at DMH. Trained in all DMH inpatient pharmacy technician areas preferred.
