POSITION SUMMARY
To be fully proficient and engaged in all workstations and procedures within the Family Pharmacy including retail, mail order, bedside discharge, courier services, hospice and home infusion. The Pharmacy Technician III Retail assists leadership with daily workflow, new associate training, and inventory management including operating any/all automated dispensing units. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and do not perform duties that must legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES 1.
Proficiently performs procedures in all workstations including retail, mail order, bedside discharge, courier services, hospice and home infusion. 2. Receives and processes orders from HF Hospice, including narcotics, and is proficient in working in Hospice EMR. 3. Receives and processes orders for Home Infusion, including calculation of Hospice narcotic drips, prepares patient specific supplies, programs and maintains inventory of home infusion pumps, and is proficient in working in Home Infusion EMR. 4. Participates in on-call rotation for hospice/home infusion and/or home infusion referral coverage. 5. Performs infusion referral management duties as needed. 6. Maintains quality standards to include following USP Chapter 797 guidelines around cleaning, disinfecting, aseptic technique, garbing procedures and all required logs and documentation. 7. Fully engaged in orienting and training new associates to include Pharmacy Technicians and Tech Trainees. 8. Coordinates delivery of Hospice, Home Infusion, and bedside discharge medications with HF partners to pharmacy customers. 9. Maintains accurate inventory valuation by performing regular cycle counts and rotating stock to ensure product integrity. 10. Purchases hospice medications when needed to ensure in-stock position. 11. Proficient in operating any/all automated dispensing unit(s). 12. Enters prescriptions accurately, sorting based on delivery method; selects correct product and ensures accuracy of quantity dispensed. Work Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Licensure:
Active State of Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician License Certification:
o Current CPhT from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
Work Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of pharmacy technician experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
o Must be able to acknowledge emergency alerts while on-call within five (5) minutes and present to location within 60 minutes of alert o Strong computer skills to support distribution system applications o Flexibility and adaptability with daily schedule and assigned tasks with high initiative with ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and effectively manage time o Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with ability to make quick, accurate decisions and respond appropriately in stressful situations o Excellent verbal and written communication skills to educate customers of various ages and levels of understanding o Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with patient care teams o Detail-oriented with attention to accuracy, follow-through and thoroughness o Knowledge of medical terminology o Must meet the USP Chapter 797 guidelines for sterile technique every six (6) months if actively compounding.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Completion of formal pharmacy technician training course
Certification:
Aseptic Technique certification
Work Experience:
o At least one (1) year of experience performing sterile compounding o Working knowledge of bedside discharge, Palliative care, and hospital EMR o At least five (5) or more years of pharmacy technician experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
