Full Job Description Job Summary:
AdvanceCare Pharmacy is dedicated to serving the LGBTQ+ community and is seeking a dynamic and experienced pharmacy technician for our community pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician will support all pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering outstanding service. The Pharmacy Technician will play a crucial role in providing pharmacy services and culturally competent care to a diverse patient population, including individuals living with HIV, those at risk for STDs/STIs, members of the LGBTQ+ community, communities of color, and individuals from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
Data Entry:
Accessing, inputting, and retrieving information through the Pharmacy’s dispensing software to maintain accurate records and process prescriptions for the pharmacists to verify.
Prescription Processing:
Retrieving, pouring, counting, packaging and labeling products under the supervision of the PIC.
Billing:
Processing and preparing third-party insurance claims, including resolving rejections such as prior authorizations by communicating with physicians, patients, and insurers.
Shipping:
Providing completed orders to patients, including preparing prescriptions for shipping and collecting co-payments.
Professional Services:
Administer vaccines as permitted by law.
Inventory Management:
Maintaining pharmacy inventory, including placing and receiving wholesaler orders, and ensuring accurate recordkeeping. Unpacking and organizing incoming products, including sorting items that require special handling. Checking for outdated medications and notifying the PIC of low inventories.
Pharmacy Records:
Logging records related to inventories, receipts, purchases, and deliveries. Preparing reports related to sales, usage, and inventory.
Maintaining Workspace:
Maintaining and cleaning equipment, work areas, and shelves. Checking refrigerator and freezer temperatures. Notifying the pharmacist of any problems or malfunctions.
Customer Service:
Greeting and assisting customers, answering phones and directing customer calls to the appropriate personnel. Handling customer problems/concerns in a calm manner and referring them to the pharmacist accordingly.
Compliance:
Complying with established procedures, rules, and regulations. Understanding confidentiality with respect to patient/ client care; complying with all federal and state laws applicable to the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) and electronic protected health information (EPHI); and following HIPAA guidelines regarding readily identifiable protected health information.
Team work:
Working as a team and communicating clearly. Contribute to a safe, clean, and respectful work environment.

Required Skills/Abilities:
Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to adapt quickly to new processes and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Capable of working independently and collaboratively. Proficient in using pharmacy management software and other relevant software platforms. Effective communication skills for interacting with customers, both internally and externally. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency At least 21 years of age A minimum of 2 years of pharmacy technician experience. Pharmacy technician license from the Board of Pharmacy in the state of employment – if applicable
