The DC shall ensure dispensaries follow all local, state, and federal regulations, company policies/procedures, as well as ensure all licensing required from any other entity for everyday operations is current. The DC serves as the medical center’s Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all pharmacy and medication-related questions and, as such, responds to all patient-related inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

Fills all prescriptions submitted by prescribers Maintains inventory levels within budget Prepares all patient Vacation Supplies, Lost Medications, and Prior Authorization requests for prescriber approval Reviews pharmacy reports and identifies: Opportunities for brand-to-brand conversion Duplication of therapy issues High-cost medication opportunities Ensures prescribers are maximizing HMO formularies Submits all patient OTC orders as requested Processes all Durable Medical Equipment (DME) orders Resolves any patient-related grievances and provides root cause analysis (RCA) to the Dispensary Supervisor (DS)

RESPONSIBILTIES

Compliance with local, state, and federal requirements, as well as any other outside entity that requires a license/permit for the dispensary to operate (e.g., NCPDP, PBM, wholesaler, etc.) Maintains all licensing/permits current and up to date Ensures compliance with all company policies, procedures, and requests Processes all prescriptions in the same manner as a pharmacy, with the difference being that the prescriber provides the final check/verification Provides patients with medication, explains how to take/use it, and ensures patients understand why the medication was prescribed and how to use it properly Processes patient Vacation Supplies, Lost Medications, and Prior Authorizations, working toward approval from HMOs Serves as an extension of the company pharmacy program and ensures collaboration between dispensaries and company delivery pharmacies Orders all patient Durable Medical Equipment (DME), fulfilling all billing and processing requirements; ensures patients understand how to use DME devices Reviews HMO formularies and monitors generic utilization and medication compliance with providers Maintains inventory levels within budget Maintains perpetual inventory of all medications Prepares all required reports and provides them to the Dispensary Supervisor in a timely manner, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent Valid Registered Pharmacy Technician license in Florida required Minimum two (2) years of experience as a pharmacy technician; dispensary experience preferred Excellent computer knowledge is required, including proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Basic knowledge in electronic health record software (NextGen) is preferred Familiar with pharmacy adjudication platforms Fluency in Spanish and English preferred Patient relations experience Must be patient in dealing with an elderly population and sympathetic to hearing or vision deficiencies Excellent listening, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment Must be self-motivated, organized, and have excellent prioritization skills Must be able to work well under stressful conditions Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
