The compounding technician will work with direct supervision of our pharmacists and be part of a team with other technicians in our sterile laboratory.
REQUIREMENTS, SPECIAL TRAINING, CERTIFICATIONS, SKILLS
Registered Pharmacy Technician in the State of Florida Certified (CPhT) Pharmacy Technician (may consider non-certified if the candidate is willing to become certified within 3 months of hire) 1-year minimum experience in working in compounding non-sterile. Sterile, High Risk, Medium Risk Sterile Compounding is a plus. High School Education Pass Drug Test prior to hire Must be fluent in the English language Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to multitask Basic Responsibilities Weigh ingredients correctly and process them following the provided formula worksheet specifications Weigh and measure suitable chemicals to prepare different kinds of compounds but mainly sterile solutions Package and label prepared compounds in a suitable dispensing device Execute quality assurance procedures on assigned randomly sampled scripts and document results following standards Effectively use the pharmacy computer system to create and review formula logs as well as print labels, worksheets, and manage inventory. Follows strict procedures for gowning and use of personal protective equipment, such as gowns, shoe, and hair covers, gloves, eye protection, and appropriate masks or respirators. Responsible for daily cleaning and logging information in accordance with established policy Perform filling and unloading of the dishwasher Perform daily confirmation that all equipment is working well, including calibrating balances Ensure all equipment, including freezer/fridge temperatures and weights on scales at work station are verified and maintained Take part in relevant training to include safety and hazardous material handling. Take part in departmental/pharmacy staff meetings, as well as in relevant educational programs May be asked to handle special projects as well as perform other duties that may be assigned. Comply with company standard operating procedures Comply with relevant USP Chapters Perform and function in a dynamic work environment Ensure compounds are prepared in accordance with the formulation of patient-specific prescriptions Ensure all relevant compounding guidelines and quality standards are maintained
PHYSICAL/HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is also required to stand, walk, lift, pull and/or push, carry, grasp, reach, stoop and crouch. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color determination. In addition, employees will be required to pass a medical evaluation for FIT testing for half-face and full-face respirator use and wear all necessary personal protective equipment as part of the company’s hazard communication program.
