Job Summary The lead pharmacy technician provides support for the day-to-day pharmacy operations through the effective coordination of pharmacy technician activities, consulting with the Technician Supervisor, other members of pharmacy leadership, and/or the pharmacists as needed. Ascertains that assigned pharmacy technicians demonstrate a level of competence, professionalism, and customer service as defined and required by job descriptions and NGHS Organizational Core Competencies. This position may care for patients in all age groups. Minimum Job Qualifications Licensure or other certifications: Current registration with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy is required. First attempt of certification exam should be completed within six months of hire. Certification must be obtained by the third attempt or at 12 months of hire.

Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED.

Previous experience as Pharmacy Technician.

Develops bi-weekly technician schedule. Ensures that requests for PDO are handled equitably and according to policy. Arranges coverage of workflow in the event of call-outs or other special circumstances, i.e. weather emergency, system downtime, or other unanticipated event Ensures that all Human Resources and departmental policies regarding scheduling and PDO are followed. Coordinates orientation, training, and certification of technicians. Assists with the development of materials to be used in the training of technicians. Develops a training schedule for newly hired technicians’ 90-day orientation period. Ensures orientation checklist for newly hired technicians is completed within 90 days of date of hire. Assists with the training of newly hired technicians and the ongoing training of existing technicians. Serves as a system administrator for assigned pharmacy software programs, including but not limited to Veriform unit inspection tracking software, and KitCheck emergency tray scanning software. Serves as a backup for pharmacy buyers. Participates in interview process for hiring of technicians. Provides peer reviews during annual performance evaluation process. Performs the duties of a technician when requested/required. Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
