The successful candidate will assist pharmacists in dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers. Key Responsibilities Prescription Processing Receive and process prescription orders from patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers Enter prescription information accurately into pharmacy management systems Verify patient information, insurance coverage, and prescription details Calculate quantities, dosages, and days supply for medications Prepare prescription labels and organize medications for pharmacist review Medication Preparation and Dispensing Count, measure, and package medications according to prescription specifications Prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical preparations under pharmacist supervision Maintain proper storage conditions for medications, including refrigerated and controlled substances Assist with compounding medications when required Ensure accuracy in all medication preparation activities Customer Service and Communication Greet patients professionally and assist with prescription drop-off and pickup Answer basic questions about prescription status, copays, and pharmacy policies Process payments and handle insurance claims Communicate effectively with patients regarding medication availability and wait times Coordinate with healthcare providers’ offices regarding prescription clarifications Inventory Management Monitor medication inventory levels and identify items needing reorder Receive, verify, and properly store incoming pharmaceutical shipments Maintain accurate records of controlled substances and handle DEA reporting requirements Rotate stock to ensure proper medication dating and prevent expiration Assist with periodic inventory counts and audits Administrative Duties Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations Update patient profiles and insurance information in pharmacy systems Process insurance prior authorizations and appeals Handle medication returns and recalls according to established procedures Assist with pharmacy cleaning and organization tasks Required QualificationsEducation and Certification High school diploma or equivalent required Completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred Missouri pharmacy technician license/registration as required by state law Skills and Experience Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling medications Excellent mathematical and computer skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, drug classifications, and medical abbreviations Experience with pharmacy management software systems preferred Bilingual capabilities a plus Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Manual dexterity for counting and packaging medications Visual acuity for reading prescription labels and computer screens Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally Preferred Qualifications Previous pharmacy or healthcare experience Experience with insurance billing and prior authorization processes Knowledge of pharmacy regulations and compliance requirements Customer service experience in healthcare setting Working Conditions Fast-paced retail or clinical pharmacy environment Regular interaction with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies Exposure to pharmaceuticals and cleaning agents NO evenings, occasional saturday, closed Sundays and all major holidays Adherence to safety protocols and infection control measures Compensation and Benefits Competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience and certification level Continuing education support and professional development opportunities Employee prescription discount program How to Apply Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter highlighting relevant experience and certifications.
