Considered a resource by the on-site oncology clinic nursing staff to perform medication reconciliation functions and to ensure pharmacy service level remains high when a fill-in pharmacist is on-site. Assists the pharmacist(s) with chemotherapy admixture, charge sheet entry, controlled substance processing, inventory, and medication reconciliation.

Education and formal training:

Licensed as a technician by the NCBOP required. Licensed as a CPhT is required.

Work Experience:

At least one year experience required performing intravenous admixtures preferred. Oncology intravenous admixture experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Effective communicator, ability to accept constructive criticism and learn new skills, ability to adjust to varying workloads, and ability to utilize aseptic technique with IV admixtures. Must be competent with various computer systems and easily troubleshoot problems independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to see and read physician orders and medications labels. Must have manual dexterity to run computer, process prescriptions, and perform IV admixture.
