Full Job Description Job Summary:
Following established policies and procedures under the direct supervision of a pharmacist prepares and distributes medication and performs functions essential to the operations of the hospital pharmacy department. Assumes responsibility for inventory maintenance to ensure that quality in-date drug products and supplies are available when needed. Participates in training new staff. Participates in quality and process improvement activities of the Central Pharmacy. Maintains updated knowledge and skills and contributes to the education of others. Attends periodic area meetings. Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building. Will be expected to uphold the hospital’s five key values. May be cross trained to other areas.

How You’ll Impact Patient Care:
Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Helps pharmacists prepare and process medication orders to make sure patients and departments get the right medications on time and are charged correctly. Works well with others and organizes daily tasks for maximum efficiency. Helps keep medicine stock in good condition so that quality drugs and supplies are always available. Offers pharmacy services in patient care areas. Takes part in team efforts to improve quality and supports the Pharmacy Department’s commitment to Total Quality principles. Keeps knowledge and skills up to date and helps educate others. Sets personal goals to support quality improvement and departmental objectives. Follows hospital standards to create a positive work environment through good communication, relationships, and teamwork. Provides care tailored to different age groups as per Age Specific Care Guidelines. What You Will Need High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Nice To Have (Not Required) Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technology course preferred. One-year previous pharmacy experience preferred. Previous IV experience; previous experience servicing pediatric patient population. PTCB technician certification (CPhT) preferred. North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration required within 30 days of employment.
PTCB/NHA
technician certification (CPhT) within 180 days of employment or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited Pharmacy School.
