Job Description:
The Pharmacy Technician works under the close supervision of aregistered pharmacist and performs a variety of tasks including butnot limited to aseptic compounding activities required to dispenseIV compounding prescriptions, and/or recording medicationhistories, and/or, performing activities required to receive,dispense, and deliver non-controlled and controlled medications toprovide quality, safe patient care. Prepares, distributes, anddisposes of medication in compliance with current standards underthe direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and/or interviewspatients to obtain an accurate and complete medication historybased on organization standards and/or compounds hazardous andnon-hazardous IV medications.
Navigates electronic medical recordsto gather pertinent information to assist with pharmacyactivities.
Operates pharmacy systems technology and automation toassist with medication preparation.
Completes medication regulatoryand compliance activities.
Communicates effectively with otherhealth care professionals to deliver high-quality customerservice.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
Required:
1 year work experience (pharmacy experiencepreferred but not required)
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING
Required:
PharmacyTechnician certification through PTCB or NHA prior to hire.
