- Friday Primary Purpose of Position Screens, prepares, and processes provider medication orders under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Provide clerical support to the medical records and front desk areas of the clinic as required. This position receives the medication order, reviews the patient medication profile, enters required information into a data information system, prepares a prescription label, selects the appropriate drug, counts out the prescribed number of medication dosage units, and proofs for errors.
Minimum Education/Experience Required Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nine-month Pharmacy Technician program; or high school diploma or equivalency and one year of pharmacy-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of a nine-month Pharmacy Technician program or graduation from high school and two years of pharmacy-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Essential Job Duties Screening and preparing provider medication orders. Recording data and maintaining accurate patient profiles. Preparing and dispensing medications. Excellent customer service and problem resolution skills. Maintaining drug inventory. Support medical records, front desk, immunizations, medical clinic and other relevant staff. Ability to understand, communicate, and follow oral and written instructions. Embrace change with the role of a pharmacy technician in both the pharmaceutical industry and Student Health. Other Work Responsibilities Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education Must be at least 18 years of age. High school graduate or GED required. Must be licensed by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Required certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT). Prior Retail Pharmacy Technician experience is required.
