  • External candidates only Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH seeks a Pharmacy Technician to join our Inpatient Pharmacy team.

Our Pharmacy Technicians work under the supervision of licensed Pharmacists to support patient care by answering calls, addressing the needs of various teams, compounding (combining) medications tailored to patients’ individual needs, as well as dispensing and delivering medications to inpatient units. Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is an Academic Medical Center which prides itself on supporting education and training. Pharmacy Technicians will routinely engage with the training and support of new staff, interns, students, apprentices, and other learners who rotate through the pharmacy. Inpatient Pharmacy Technicians are hired as a Registered Technician, Certified Technician I, Certified Technician II, or Certified Technician III depending on qualifications and experience and are encouraged to advance through the technician career ladder as additional skills and experience are acquired. We provide continuous opportunities for learning and career development. Following the training period, technicians work within one of our specialized teams: Inventory

  • Receiving, billing, invoice/PO management, drug shortage management, inventory optimization Compounding
  • Sterile and nonsterile compounding according to USP standards, advanced training for compounding and handling of hazardous medications Distribution
  • Facilitating availability of medications in various patient care areas, management and operation of pharmacy technology, includes a variety of roles responsible for ensuring efficient and smooth operation of the central pharmacy
Shifts:

Part-time and full-time opportunities are currently available. We offer both rotating day/evening shifts and set overnight shifts to support our 24/7 pharmacy. Our shift differentials are 10% for evenings, 20% for overnights, and 15% for weekends. New to a career in Pharmacy? You may be hired as a registered pharmacy technician and independently work to obtain your certification in 9-months OR enroll in our apprenticeship program to guide you through the certification process. No previous pharmacy or healthcare experience required. Dartmouth is the best where it matters most!

Employees also receive a base employer contribution of 4% of biweekly pay plus a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) that is matched with a Health Savings Account and a PPO Plan that features higher premiums balanced by copays and lower deductibles.

Retirement:

Employee contributions are vested immediately. Biweekly matching contribution of 50% on up to 4% of pay saved—for a maximum match of 2% of pay.

Paid Time Off:

Paid time off is accrued per pay period based on hours worked. This includes six paid holidays.

Shift Differential:

10% evening, 20% night, and 15% weekend shift differentials when applicable.

Tuition Reimbursement:

Up to $3,000 per year. Dental Vision Dartmouth-Hitchcock Pharmacy; Pharmacy Technician; Responsibilities Answers Phones and triages customer service issues. Prepares prescription and non-prescription medication and/or devices. Stocks and replenishes stock locations and automated dispensing machines (ADMs) and/or robots (example: shelves, carousels, Parata). Serves as a preceptor and assists with orientation and training of pharmacy department staff. Communicates supply issues, problems or discrepancies appropriately. Assists in revising policy and procedure. Delivers meds to beds or patient care area. Performs purchasing and billing functions. Establishes and maintains training materials. Prepares intravenous admixtures or other sterile drug products (excluding antineoplastic medications) in accordance with USP chapter under supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. Prepares or compounds non-sterile, non-antineoplastic drug products in accordance with USP chapter under supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. Maintains the hardware and software of the department’s multiple computer systems. Qualifications Associates degree in a health or related field, with 1 year of pharmacy experience, or the equivalent in education and experience preferred. Ability to flexibly work in a fast paced environment with accuracy. Strong customer service skills, including phone interactions. Ability to multitask and attention to detail. Ability to maintain composure under stressful situations. Required Licensure/Certifications Registered Pharmacy Technician with the NH Board of Pharmacy required. Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required. BLS Certification required within 30 days of hire for Pharmacy Technicians in the Retail or Specialty Pharmacy if required to administer immunizations
