Hour Shifts Position Summary:
A reputable healthcare facility in Tompkins County, NY is seeking an experienced Inpatient Pharmacy Technician for a 13-week contract assignment. The technician will support pharmacists in medication preparation, distribution, inventory management, and maintaining patient records. All tasks must be performed under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in compliance with applicable standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Prepare and distribute medications per physician or pharmacist instruction and facility protocols Replenish medications in automated dispensing units and emergency drug kits Accurately prepare sterile IV admixtures, including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition, using aseptic technique Follow and comply with sterile compounding regulations and procedures Repackage bulk medications into unit-dose packaging safely and accurately Assist with ordering, receiving, storing, and restocking of medications and supplies Maintain proper documentation, including pricing updates and regulatory records Conduct monthly medication storage inspections and replace outdated medications Generate required reports, pick lists, and labels to support pharmacy operations
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Pharmacy Technician Certification from a nationally accredited program (PTCB or NHA) Registered Pharmacy Technician with the State of New York Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
2-3 years of hospital pharmacy experience Proficiency in sterile compounding procedures Familiarity with hospital inventory systems and medication safety practices
