Full-time & Part-time Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacist in daily operations by assisting with prescription preparation, inventory management, customer service, and administrative tasks. In an independent pharmacy setting, this role often includes broader responsibilities and opportunities for patient interaction and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Prescription Processing:
Receive and input prescription orders accurately and efficiently. Prepare and label medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Count, measure, mix, or compound medications as authorized.
Customer Service:
Greet and assist customers in a professional and friendly manner. Answer phone calls and handle customer inquiries or refer them to the pharmacist as needed. Process sales transactions at the register and manage prescription pickups.
Inventory Management:
Receive, stock, and organize inventory and supplies. Monitor inventory levels and notify pharmacist of low-stock or expired items. Help manage drug ordering and returns with wholesalers or suppliers. Maintain accurate patient and prescription records in the pharmacy system. Assist with insurance claim processing and third-party billing. Support medication therapy management (MTM), immunization prep, or other clinical services.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred. Previous pharmacy or retail experience preferred, especially in an independent or community pharmacy.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with pharmacy software systems PioneerRx a big plus! Dependable, organized, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
