Job Description
Certified Bilingual Pharmacy Technician – Part Time Rural Health Services Inc 1000 Clyburn Pl, Aiken, SC 29801 The Certified Bilingual Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in the pharmacy department and is certified to perform delineated independent functions.
Essential Functions:
Greets patients and answers telephone in a courteous and professional manner, addresses questions and directs calls. Ensures patient confidentiality and provides patients with needed information. Performs other necessary duties required by the Pharmacist to meet the goal of providing primary health care services. Actively participates in the implementation and evaluation of the Patient-Centered Medical Home. Assist pharmacist in providing effective and safe pharmacy services . Assist the pharmacist in preparing prescriptions. Receive and process provider verbal prescription orders • Receive and transfer prescriptions from/to other pharmacies• Handling of legend drugs or devices, to include but not limited to, the receiving of shipments of pharmaceuticals and the stocking of shelves and bins. Receive verbal requests from patients for available refills. Select from available stock legend drugs and devices for prescription preparation Enter prescription information into computer, including drug allergies. Place medication in a suitable container. Appropriately label prescription container. Check for drug outdates. May process new prescription medication sales transactions only after the licensed pharmacist personally offers and /or provides counseling to the patient or the patient’s agent. Process medications returned for credit according to permitted facility’s policies and procedures. Discard expired returns according to permitted facility’s policies and procedures. Collect funds for prescriptions and assist in reconciling the daily audit. Assists in patient assistant programs. Participates in the community health center’s quality assurance activities and performs duties in accordance with applicable standards. Ensures an appropriate environment for the delivery of health care by assisting in general with maintenance and housekeeping; i.e., maintaining equipment, locking and securing areas, and maintaining work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion. All other duties as required.
Skills/Certifications:
The ability to interact effectively with patients family supports, community resources and staff. The ability to effectively perform the several duties that are part of the medical office activities, including the ability to perform basic mathematical functions consistently and correctly. The ability to be bonded for the handling of cash receipts. Board Certified in South Carolina Education High school graduate or equivalent. Certified Pharmacy Technician in the State of South Carolina Good typing, computer and organizational skills. One year in a related medical or pharmaceutical area.
