Pharmacy Technician:
Duties include but not limited to: Medicion Distribution System 1. Reads and interprets prescriptions from the veteran electronic health record systems (EHRS) or in written form. 2. Reviews prescription orders for technical accuracy. 3. Prepares medicions and ensures the orderable item mches the item being dispensed regarding drug, strength, quantity, or approprie supply item. 4. Dispenses medicions and sterile products following all regulions, policies, and procedures for safe medicion distribution. 5. Uses Automic Dispensing machines (ADM) to bch and label medicions, Ensure Script Talk labels are bched if needed. Understands when to use other prescription labels with computer outages. 6. Maintains highly sophisticed pharmacy equipment. This includes cleaning procedures and maintenance of ADM’s and other counting machines. Troubleshoots equipment and dabases when needed. 7. Assists with automed or manual inventory processes th include but are not limited to inventory counts, medicion ordering, stocking, checking for outdes, pulling outdes, pulling recalled medicions, inspections or any other activity reled to the supply of VA medicions. 8. Accurely interprets EHRM pient medicion profiles. Can confirm prescription informion in the Pharmacy computer packages. Able to execute refills or other technician duties within the pharmacy software. 9. Accurely updes pient informion in the many pharmacy software packages such as ADM’s and
EHRM. 10.
Accurely enters notes into the electronic health record using pharmacy temples or blank forms. 11. Comprehends and participes in procurement activities, inventory management, narcotic dispensing, secure messaging, overnight mail, partial fills, window dispensing. administrive reports, prescription review, and incident reports as deleged by supervisor, 12. Prioritizes workload to complete assignments on time. 13. Maintains a safe orderly and clean working environment. 14. Ensures all look alike, sound alike, high alert, refrigered medicions are stored properly according to manufactures recommendions and Nional Institute for Occupional Safety and Health (NIOSH) requirement. 15. Maintains adaptability and Rexibility for various emerging roles and responsibilities in the medicion distribution system including new equipment, assignments, and changes in pharmacy workflow. Pharmacy Phone System 1. Able to use the current facility phone system. 2. Maintains approprie phone etiquette and professionalism. 3. Able to work independently in phone center locions. 4. Accurely collects pient informion. 5. Capable of synthesizing pient informion to identify basic therapeutic, distributive, or medicion reled problems. 6. Understands when to alert pharmacists for problems. 7. Communices informion accurely in the electronic health record or other forms. 8. Completes calls and as needed follow up in a timely manner. 9. Seeks opportunity to support pharmacy operions when phone volume low. Pharmacy Mail System 1. Fills medicion “to be mailed” in accordance with description provided in the medicion distribution section. 2. Ensures prescription label mches mailing label and maintains accuracy in other software or paper systems. 3. Able to transport mail containers to pick up destinions, restock supplies, lift mail bags or containers. 4. Assists with other medicion distribution activities as directed by pharmacist, supervisor or as delineed as part of the shift responsibility.
