Position Summary The Certified Pharmacy Technician Specialist will assist the pharmacy department with processing prior authorizations for the health center’s medical providers, patient note retrievals for pharmacy referral patients, patient medication adherence, pharmacy claim reviews, 340B compliance, and pharmacy operations. In addition to those duties, this position will be required to support in-house pharmacies operations when needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Work within the health center’s electronic health record (EHR) to accurately process prior authorization requests. Access associated health systems records to retrieve needed patient documents. Work within the health center’s EHR to locate, retrieve or process the appropriate information required for pharmacy operations and compliance. Use provided tools to monitor prescription data, patient data, hospital data, payer data, site of care and, if required, ICD-10 codes. Summarize and report results to the appropriate individuals. Enter and process patients’ information and transactions accurately and efficiently. Count, measure and prepare specific products according to relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and ethics standards. Follow provided staging procedures appropriately. Maintain records and reports related to pharmacy functions, volume and sales. Process and troubleshoot insurance billing and claim rejections. Assist with inventory management, including checking medication expiration dates, cycle counts to maintain correct on hand quantities and completing wholesaler and reverse distributor returns. Understand and follow company guidelines regarding registers, payment and transactions. Properly inspect any equipment within the pharmacy and notify appropriate manager of any necessary repairs. Adhere to safety programs and procedures. Report all illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud. Assist pharmacists in all responsibilities, except those that require the judgment of a licensed pharmacist. Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
