Multi-Office Full Time Phlebotomist 2.2 2.2 out of 5 stars Melbourne, FL 32901 Florida Kidney Physicians’ mission is to improve the lives of people with kidney disease and hypertension by providing the highest quality of care through compassion, empowerment and innovation. This position is for a full-time phlebotomist that will travel between our 3 offices throughout the week. Our office hours are M-Th 8-5, and Friday’s 8-12. No weekends, no overnights. Phlebotomist verifies patient identification and explains sampling procedures to patients. Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks. Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures, and observing isolation procedures.
Responsibilities include:
Arrange daily activities based on urgency of requests for fluid samples. Identify patients and their personal information using their ID, documents, or other means. Determine the right venipuncture method based on patient age, health etc. Reassure patients and help them relax. Find veins that are suitable for puncture. Draw blood using sterilized needles, vials, and other equipment. Ensure optimal quality and quantity of samples. Label samples correctly and send or deliver them for testing. Answer patient questions and provide useful information. Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests. Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working. Help with blood transfusions when needed. Work with supervising Physicians and follow their directions at all times. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Professional certification in phlebotomy from a recognized program. Proven experience as a Phlebotomist or Phlebotomy Technician. Experience with effective puncture techniques. Ability to successfully draw blood from patients with minimal or no complications. Understanding of proper patient identification methods. Knowledge of legal requirements about drawing blood, handling fluid samples and use of relevant medical equipment and material. Ability to use computers to enter information.
