Mobile Phlebotomist and Molecular Collector Responsibilities/Duties Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 7:00am-5:00pm

JOB SUMMARY

Phlebotomist / Molecular performs daily phlebotomy and PCR collection activities of the hiring laboratory accurately and on time. The person in this position interacts with patients, FNP’s, medical office staff and hiring laboratory owners/personnel in a professional and courteous manner and performs with confidence, both the forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures. •

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Greet patients appropriately. Treat all patients in a courteous manner. Ensures all field phlebotomy and PCR specimens are collected accurately and on time. Collects specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. UTI, UA, c&s, wound, Resp, fungal, STI/STD) as required. Reduces patient anxiety by providing a calm environment for patients before, during and after the collection process. Disposes of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, or policies. Disposes of contaminated sharps, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies. Completes requisitions accurately. At times, patients, specimen, insurance, or billing information into computer. Requires attention to detail to maintain a high level of accuracy. Communicate with clients to confirm handwritten orders, verify test(s) ordered, obtain accurate billing information, i.e., diagnosis codes, UPIN information, etc.

At times:

Research test/patient information utilizing lab computer system. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Package specimens for transport. Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen. Demonstrates proficiency in proper collection methods and proper processing of all specimens. Detailed shipping instructions with FED EX tracking notification and receipts. Maintains required records and documentation for patients and laboratory. Maintains daily records and all appropriate Phlebotomy and Molecular laboratory logs. Daily assist with compilation of monthly statistics and data. Performs basic clerical duties, i.e., communicating, upkeep with supplies, supply orders, emailing medical office and laboratory staff any and all documents and information. The person in this position is required to perform electronic data entry. Approves time in attendance by noon on the Monday following the end of the weekly period. Submits accurate expense and travel logs Monday for the week prior or as directed by management. Demonstrates organizational commitment and structure.

MANDATORY

Adheres to the code of grooming and dress code and lab policies, appearing neat and clean at all times. Utilizes time appropriately. Capable of maintaining fluctuating patient collection days and being nimble and able to adapt and be a self-starter with minimal direction. Displays courteous and professional behavior to patients, medical office staff and laboratory co-workers. Communicates with co-workers and clients in a way that promotes a friendly and cooperative working environment. Answers the telephone in a friendly and helpful manner, by employee name, self-identification, and a helpful statement. Performs duties in an independent manner, with a proven track record of Phlebotomist and Molecular collector skills. Communicates pertinent information/issues to medical office staff and laboratory management for resolution. Contributes to a positive work climate for the medical office staff and laboratory staff. Ensures automobile, work sites, facilities are neat, clean and in good repair for daily travel. Assist with periodic inventory counts, report shortages and problems to leadership. Utilizes proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to ensure patient and personal safety. Exercises all laboratory safety precautions and adheres to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals. Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry’s best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data. Hipaa compliance is all aspects. Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.

EDUCATION & LICENSURE

High School Diploma or GED. Equivalent work experience is acceptable if permitted by The State of Florida and laboratory guidelines. Phlebotomist Certification is preferred in the State of Florida. If required.

REQUIREMENTS

5 years of prior job-related experience preferred in the field and in home setting for Phlebotomist and Molecular collections. City or County of Residence within 25 miles of: Pensacola, FL, or surrounding area supporting 3 counties, Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa.

Travel requirement:

Heavy travel from Medical office/Clinic to patients home for Phlebotomist / Molecular collections. Start at office daily and end at office daily. Pensacola, FL office based. •Again, mandatory reliable transportation, and self-starter without environmental or personal distractions.

Education:

High school or equivalent (Required) Preferred 2-4 year undergraduate or master’s degree in Phlebotomy, biology, medicine, or chemistry but not mandatory. Rank desire, Phlebotomist, BSN, RN or

LVN/MA, EMT-PNR.
Experience:
Phlebotomy:

4+ years (Required or similar demonstrated skills)

License/Certification:

Certified Phlebotomy Technician (Required or similar demonstrated skills) in the

State of Florida Work Location:

Pensacola, FL in person.
