- Collects laborory specimens from a wide pient demographic using varying methods of collection to include venipuncture of pients in the inpient and outpient setting; Works closely with specialty clinics to assist with collecting specimens for medical research; Performs clerical duties in the area involve answering incoming departmental calls, contacting medical staff to correct order errors, obtaining new testing orders, or canceling or merging duplice and obsolete orders; Prioritizes collection order and sample integrity are essential skills to avoid error or repe testing and using procedural guidelines in place to verify the identity of every sample collected; Communices with the medical staff and the pient, makes any corrections or gives collection direction as needed, to maintain appropriely collected samples for each test ordered; Performs drug screening using federal regulions and guidelines; Uses a process of accession to verify and identify specimens with established guidelines using multiple computer systems; Controls physical conditions and responds to time factors to ensure the quality of the specimen is maintained; Performs all duties as assigned.
