CONTRACT

Job Summary:
A Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood samples from patients for laboratory testing, ensuring accurate labeling and handling of specimens. They are skilled in performing venipunctures and capillary punctures while adhering to safety and infection control protocols. Phlebotomists must maintain a high level of professionalism and patient care, often working in a fast-paced environment. They are also responsible for preparing blood samples for testing, documenting all procedures, and ensuring proper storage and transportation of specimens. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential for interacting with patients and maintaining accurate records. Phlebotomists may work in hospitals, clinics, blood donation centers, or diagnostic laboratories.
Key Responsibilities and skills:
Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures to collect blood samples from patients. Ensure proper labeling and handling of blood specimens for accurate testing. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and infection control standards. Assist in preparing blood samples for laboratory analysis. Record patient information and details of each procedure accurately. Communicate with patients to explain the procedure and alleviate concerns. Monitor patient reactions during and after the procedure, providing care as needed. Adhere to all hospital or clinic policies and procedures regarding blood collection. Maintain and troubleshoot phlebotomy equipment as needed. Ensure proper transportation and storage of collected samples for testing.
Qualifications:
Minimum education- High school diploma or GED 2 years of experience required 30-40 blood draws a day Experience with hard sticks, needles Detail-oriented with good experience. Computer skills. Data entry and processing. Strong critical thinking, communication, and stress management skills.
