Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to assist in providing exceptional care and support to both patients and clinical providers. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with patient consultations, essential phlebotomy duties, and inventory control. Additionally, you will assist in coordinate patient care through administrative support. The ideal candidate will be organized, have strong interpersonal skills, and be committed to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:

Assist clinical providers in preparing their patients for consultations, examinations and procedures, ensuring patients are comfortable and informed. Take and record patient vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, weight, and pulse. Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers.

Phlebotomy Duties/Lab Management:

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws for lab tests, ensuring a high level of accuracy and patient comfort. Label and process blood samples in accordance with established protocols. Maintain proper documentation and ensure timely submission of lab specimens. Upload lab results into the system, update patient appointments, and contact patients if they do not have an appointment scheduled. Pull lab results from Quest and LabCorp printers, updating the waiting list to reflect results. Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and reorder as necessary. Order appropriate lab supplies from Quest and LabCorp for Winter Park. Manage specialty kit inventory, ensure all kits are stocked, and check expiration dates. Check lab printers regularly to ensure paper is stocked and functional.

Patient Care & Coordination:

Send lab reminders to patients (4-week, 2-week, and 72-hour reminders) and assist with rescheduling appointments. Stock injection drawer with necessary supplies (cotton balls, needles, alcohol). Follow up with patients to ensure they have scheduled appointments when needed. Greet patients, gather patient history, and ensure that all necessary forms are completed. Provide clear instructions to patients regarding lab tests, procedures, medication and supplements and follow-up care. Address patient concerns and assist with any administrative tasks related to their care.

Administrative Support:

Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow within the office. Maintain electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure patient data is accurate and up to date. Assist with billing procedures. Manage medical office correspondence, including phone calls and patient communications. Update Admin MA’s on open lab items that need to be completed. Ensure all faxes are completed before leaving at the end of the day. Return all voicemails prior to leaving at the end of the day.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (required). Completion of a Medical Assistant training program (required). Phlebotomy certification (required). CPR and First Aid certification (required). Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting (preferred). Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office. Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with patients. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and multitasking ability. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in medical office settings and lab procedures (preferred).

Physical Requirements:

Full-time position with potential for occasional evening hours. Exposure to medical instruments, bodily fluids, and other materials common to healthcare settings. Adherence to infection control and safety standards is required. Fast-paced clinical environment. Regular office and patient interaction. Must be able to stand, sit, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

Working Hours:

This is a full-time position, with hours typically from 9:00 to 5:00 M-Th and 9:00-3:00 F. Occasional flexibility may be needed based on operational needs. Why Join Us?
