Phlebotomist II We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist II to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting with various duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations to enhance our operations. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate as needed. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures, ensuring proper explanation of the process to patients. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles effectively. Understand and adhere to physicians’ orders, matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order, ensuring correct procedure compliance. Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport, storing them at required temperatures and following protocols to maintain specimen integrity. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone inquiries regarding laboratory results. Essential Skills 2-4 years of recent experience in phlebotomy performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. Customer service skills. Sample/specimen processing experience. Ability to perform 40-50 draws per day Additional Skills & Qualifications Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required
