Phlebotomist Job Description The Phlebotomist II role involves performing blood collections using venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups. This position requires collecting specimens for various tests, including drug screens, paternity tests, and alcohol tests. The individual will be responsible for accurate and timely data entry of patient information, preparing specimens for testing and analysis, maintaining logs, and delivering superior customer service to patients. Administrative and clerical duties will also be part of the role. Responsibilities Perform blood collections using venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups. Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, and alcohol tests. Enter patient information accurately and timely into the database. Prepare collected specimens for testing and analysis. Maintain logs of patient and specimen information. Provide excellent customer service to all patients. Conduct administrative and clerical duties as necessary. Essential Skills Phlebotomy experience of at least 3-4 years. Proficient in drawing blood and performing venipuncture with straight needles for all ages. Exceptional customer service skills. High school diploma or equivalent. Phlebotomy certification. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required. Experience in phlebotomy with hard sticks and needles, urine, and thyroid testing. Leadership qualities. Detail-oriented with good experience. Strong computer skills and experience in data entry and processing. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Comfortable working under minimal supervision. Flexibility to work overtime as needed. Work Environment The position is located in East Ellijay, Georgia, within a laboratory, doctor’s office, or urgent care setting. The work hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, with a one-hour lunch break. Training will be conducted in Canton, GA. The role involves performing 15-20 draws per day and working independently in a large location. The candidate should be comfortable working with all age groups, including pediatrics, geriatrics, and neonatals.
