Job Description

Phlebotomist II – Suwanee Job Description The main function of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This role involves blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, recording maintenance data, and decontamination. Responsibilities Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understand and follow physicians’ orders accurately. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Ensure test requisitions or computer labels match scripts with 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures. Maintain specimen integrity during transport by following specific protocols. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills Phlebotomy certification At least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience Experience with blood draws and venipuncture Customer service skills Experience with patients across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric Experience handling 30+ patient draws per day Proficiency with straight needles and specimen collection Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Experience with specimen processing Good personality and ability to create a positive work environment Long-term commitment to the role Work Environment The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
