Phlebotomist – Sparta
Job Description
The Phlebotomist provides expertise in blood draws and specimen preparation. Their ability to put patients at ease and obtain sufficient samples with minimal discomfort to patients across a wide demographic is critical to our commitment to high-quality care. Responsibilities
Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.
Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process clearly and courteously to patients.
Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Understand and follow all physicians’ orders.
Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature in appropriate containers.
Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Wear appropriate attire for the role.
Attend annual department trainings.
Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
Phlebotomy expertise.
Experience with specimen processing, centrifuge, and aliquoting.
Knowledge of different specimen tubes and sample preparation for blood samples.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with centrifuge.
Knowledge of different specimen tubes.
Work Environment
Work schedule includes Monday from 12pm to 6pm and Tuesday to Friday from 8:30am to 2:30pm. The role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with exposure in office physician settings while representing a larger lab and network. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
