We are seeking an Outpatient Laboratory Support Specialist to join our team and support the smooth operation of our Outpatient Blood Draw, Family Medicine Blood Draw, and/or Long Term Care morning collection services. This is a key role that supports both clinical and clerical functions—helping ensure high-quality patient care, timely specimen collection and processing, and seamless lab operations. You will work directly with the Support Services Supervisor to facilitate efficient workflow while performing a range of clerical, phlebotomy, and laboratory support duties. The ideal candidate will thrive in an environment where attention to detail, communication, and patient interaction are critical. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with the Support Services Supervisor to coordinate workflow and maintain efficient blood draw services across designated departments. Perform high-quality phlebotomy procedures on patients of all ages, including test ordering from manual requisitions, test scheduling, and conducting test procedures. Accurately log, process, and deliver specimens for in-house and reference laboratory testing. Perform clerical tasks such as charting, filing, answering phones, faxing lab results, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventory. Clean laboratory equipment and assist in performing basic equipment maintenance. Work independently with minimal supervision to meet daily operational needs. Maintain a high standard of customer service and professionalism when interacting with patients, providers, and other healthcare team members. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated knowledge of clerical and office practices; proficiency with computers and basic troubleshooting. Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills. Excellent verbal communication skills to explain procedures and provide patient education. Knowledge of human development and ability to work effectively with patients across the lifespan. Strong writing skills for maintaining accurate records. Ability to accurately enter and retrieve test orders and results using a computer terminal.

Physical ability to:

Walk long distances and stand for extended periods. Lean across bedside or patient chairs to perform blood draws. Push carts and carry a fully stocked phlebotomy tray or filled gallon container. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and rotate shifts as required. Familiarity with hospital operations, laboratory support functions, and adult learning principles. Preferred Qualifications Certification in phlebotomy. Coursework in medical terminology. Why Join Us?
