Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED. Certification from an accredited phlebotomy training program that includes: ASCP, AMT, ASPT or equivalent certification Completion of a certification exam with passing scores CPR Certification.
Preferred:
Two-year age-appropriate (school age, adolescents, early adults, middle adults and/or late adults) phlebotomy experience. The Successful Candidate will assume responsibility for a variety of functions, which include, but are not limited to: Collect blood specimens for clinical laboratories. Function as an intermediary between the patient, patient caregivers, and the laboratories. Assure proper specimen collection and identification in compliance with section policies and procedures. Perform appropriate patient procedures in accordance with age-specific guidelines for the age groups served.
Work Environment:
Exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens or patients. Exposed to risk of bloodborne/airborne disease. Must wear protective equipment (gloves, gowns/lab coats, eye protection, face protection). May be exposed to odorous chemicals and specimens. Subject to injury from sharps. May require judgment/action which could result in death of patient.
