Works in various areas of the laboratory, registering patients, collecting samples, and assessing the acceptability of samples for testing. Processes samples for testing including centrifugation, aliquoting, storage, and shipping. Provides support for clinical testing including preparation of slides, loading instrument, and result reporting. Performs waived and point-of-care testing and phlebotomy Minimum Education High school diploma or GED required. Knowledge of medical terminology and computer background preferred. Phlebotomy training required. Preferably certification eligible. Minimum Work Experience One year of full-time specimen processing, phlebotomy or equivalent experience preferred. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Possess skills for accepting responsibility, making decisions, and working as a team. Promote and maintain compatible working relationships among personnel within the section. Ability to operate equipment at sitting or standing levels. Flexibility and adaptability to work additional hours or shifts and under stress. Effective communications skills to include listening, writing, talking and reading. Ability to communicate via telephone, LIS, email and verbally.
