Phlebotomist II Job Description We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and updating patient information. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures and ensuring the integrity of each sample. This role requires clear and courteous communication with patients, adherence to physicians’ orders, and meticulous attention to detail in labeling and handling specimens. Responsibilities Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately. Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously to patients. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature. Place samples in appropriate collection containers or tubes and label them accurately. Follow specific procedures for transport to maintain the integrity of specimens. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (if required by state). Minimum of 2 years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with blood draws, venipuncture, and specimen collection. Ability to operate within an IOP and PSC diagnostic environment compared to a hospital setting. Work Environment The work environment includes lab and draw sites, specifically within an IOP and PSC setting. You will be providing coverage for sites in the Southern NH area, working within a smaller group that collaborates well.
