Description :
Specimen Collection and Processing:
Perform venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal) as required. Explain the collection process clearly and courteously to patients. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure 100% accuracy by checking requisitions or computer labels against scripts. Store specimens according to required temperature, ensuring integrity during transport. Package specimens for transport and follow protocols for maintaining specimen integrity.
Record Maintenance and Documentation:
Accurately record and maintain patient and specimen information in compliance with established procedures. Update patient information and respond to telephone inquiries regarding lab results.
