Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or GED and must possess at least 2 years previous lab experience. Must have a certificate in phlebotomy. Must be willing to float between sites: Blackville Medical Center (Mon- Tues) All LCHCS Sites (Wed-Friday).
Hours:
Monday – Friday 7:45am – 5:00pm Job duties include but are not limited to: Secure urine samples and perform dip stick and/or HCG as indicated by the provider. Performs PT, HgB, Alc, and CBC testing. Prepares urine for culture and pick up by courier. Draws, labels, and prepares blood for analysis and pick up by courier. Performs finger-sticks and prepares blood samples for determination of hemoglobin and blood sugar levels. Obtains throat swabs and prepares specimens for quick strep test and/or prepares swab for culture and pick up by courier. Prepares specimens collected by providers for pick up by courier. Maintains control logs on all test procedures/equipment. Maintains temperature and humidity log for lab. Maintains temperature log for refrigerator and freezer. Maintains log on all specimens sent to outside lab. Maintains log on all tests and results done in lab. Cleans lab equipment and keeps work area clean. Alerts providers of any abnormal results or panic values. Contacts patients that fail to bring in specimens or return for scheduled lab tests. Orders laboratory supplies. Precepts phlebotomy students. Adheres to HIPAA/Confidentiality policies. Communicates schedule changes with LabCorp personnel and supervisor. Maintain log of Alert Values Process STAT specimens/send to hospital and follow up on results to ensure the results get to provider and in EHR. Maintain log of problems/errors/discrepancies between lab and reference lab. Performs proficiency testing for lab. Performs any other duties as assigned by your supervisor •Salary scales are a range of pay and offers are made to applicants based upon the requirements of the particular position.
