Full Job Description Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Phlebotomist to join our Westgate – Cool Springs team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurate and efficient specimen collection—primarily blood specimens—as well as proper sample processing, inventory management, and assisting with clerical tasks as needed. A strong focus on patient care, professionalism, and adherence to laboratory protocols is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform venipuncture and other specimen collections in accordance with established procedures and physician requests. Ensure all specimens are properly labeled with patient information, physician name, collection time/date, and required tests. Process and prepare specimens for internal or reference laboratory testing (e.g., centrifuging, aliquoting, refrigeration, STAT notification). Maintain an organized workflow to minimize patient wait times and ensure timely test result availability. Provide clear instructions to patients regarding specimen collection procedures. Support nursing staff with specimen collection as needed. Answer incoming calls from physicians, nurses, and reference laboratories professionally and efficiently. Maintain inventory of phlebotomy and laboratory supplies; place orders as needed. Uphold a professional and compassionate image of the clinic in all patient and staff interactions. Follow all laboratory safety, infection control, and chemical hazard protocols. Protect patient confidentiality and use discretion when discussing patient-related information. Demonstrate flexibility in prioritizing tasks and handling multiple responsibilities effectively. Ensure consistent and punctual attendance.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Phlebotomy Training Program or accredited Medical Assistant Program (certificate or diploma).
