Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise-based program, designed bya specially trained physical therapist, to improve balance andreduce dizziness-related problems. The therapist will identify anyproblems with balance, gait (how you walk), neck motion and visualstability, as well as examine other potential problem areas. This is a part time, health benefiteligible position working 24-26 hours/week (two 8 hour days -Monday & Friday and two 5 hour days – Tuesday & Thursday OR 3 8hour days). A caregiver who excels in this role, will: Evaluate andconduct medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.
Perform initial and on-going assessments of patient’s condition.
Establish, revise and evaluate a plan of care which is appropriateto problems identified and involves the patient/family according totheir capabilities and desires. Perform therapy interventionsutilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills asappropriate for the age and condition of the patient. Superviseactivities of physical therapy assistants, students and othersupport personnel. Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiverinclude: Bachelor’s Degree or certificate required. Must be agraduate of a Physical Therapy Program accredited by the AmericanPhysical Therapy Association. Current State licensure as a PhysicalTherapist (PT). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationrequired. Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:

Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk and climb stairs without assistive device and tomaintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patientfrom falling. Ability to meet physical demands characterized at theheavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient’sarm and leg during therapeutic treatment program. Sensation oftouch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension orto monitor patient pulse. Visual acuity to observe patient’s grossand fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and toread all patient monitors. Ability to speak clearly enough toinstruct patients and families. Ability to hear at a conversationallevel to understand patient’s description of symptoms and responseto treatment.
