Position Summary/Department Summary:
We are currently seeking afull-time pediatric sports/orthopedics/performance outpatientphysical therapist for our new Needham location (free parking!)This is an immediate hire with initial training provided inWaltham/Boston before the Needham clinic opens in January 2026.
KeyResponsibilities:
- Performing complex diagnostic evaluations uponreferral and by departmental and professional guidelines andstandards.
Verifying appropriateness of referral, contactingprovider as necessary. Reviewing patient medical history/record andselecting, administering, and interpreting standardized andnon-standardized tests and measurements to assess patients’functional status related to cardiopulmonary, developmental,musculoskeletal, neurological, and sensorimotor function.
Integrating knowledge into clinical decisions and recommendations
- Developing and implementing individualized patient treatmentprograms. Establishing treatment goals and administeringappropriate physical therapy procedures and modalities. Preparingdischarge plans and home treatment programs. Providing education topatients and families. Monitoring treatment outcomes, modifyingprograms as needed, and communicating recommendations to physiciansand other providers.
- Recommending orthotics, adaptive/assistiveequipment, and technology for patients with complex, rare, ormultiple dysfunctions.
Integrates knowledge into clinicaldecision-making to meet specific treatment objectives. Liaison withequipment designers and vendors regarding equipment specificationsand patient needs. Training patients, families, and caretakers inthe use/operation of prescribed orthotics/equipment, monitors andevaluates effectiveness, and initiates modifications as needed.
- Recording assessments, diagnoses, and treatment inpatient medicalrecords according to established documentation standards. Preparesreports, correspondence, referrals, and other materials forschools, providers, payers, and others as needed. Assigningstandardized billing codes and corresponding charges required forreimbursement.
- Identifying and developing clinical knowledge andskills through participation in professional organizations,attending continuing education programs, peer review, and otherrelated internal and external resources. Sharing knowledge gainedfrom professional development activities with the department.
- Serving as a clinical instructor in a departmental studentexternship program upon completing eligibility requirements.
Planning learning objectives and arranges related clinicalexperiences. Monitoring performance, providing guidance andfeedback, and preparing and conducting student evaluations.
- Mayparticipate in departmental training and staff developmentprograms.
May supervise assigned direct reports, including physicaltherapist assistants (PTA) or rehab aides.
Minimum QualificationsEducation:
- Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy
Experience:
- Minimum of one year of licensed PT experience preferred
- PreviousPediatric Sports/Orthopedics/Performance PT experience highlypreferred
Licensure/Certifications:
- Physical Therapist license inthe state of MA New hires are eligible for a $5,000 sign on bonus!
