Position Summary/Department Summary:

We are currently seeking afull time Physical Therapist for our new Weymouth location. Our newspace at a Boston Children’s has access to over 40 specialties andvarious newly added services, your family’s health remains ourpriority.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing complex diagnosticevaluations upon referral and by departmental and professionalguidelines and standards.

Verifying appropriateness of referral,contacting provider as necessary. Reviewing patient medicalhistory/record and selecting, administering, and interpretingstandardized and non-standardized tests and measurements to assesspatients’ functional status related to cardiopulmonary,developmental, musculoskeletal, neurological, and sensorimotorfunction. Integrating knowledge into clinical decisions andrecommendations.

  • Developing and implementing individualizedpatient treatment programs.

Establishing treatment goals andadministering appropriate physical therapy procedures andmodalities. Preparing discharge plans and home treatment programs.

Providing education to patients and families. Monitoring treatmentoutcomes, modifying programs as needed, and communicatingrecommendations to physicians and other providers.

  • Recommendingorthotics, adaptive/assistive equipment, and technology forpatients with complex, rare, or multiple dysfunctions.

Integratesknowledge into clinical decision-making to meet specific treatmentobjectives. Liaison with equipment designers and vendors regardingequipment specifications and patient needs. Training patients,families, and caretakers in the use/operation of prescribedorthotics/equipment, monitors and evaluates effectiveness, andinitiates modifications as needed.

  • Recording assessments,diagnoses, and treatment inpatient medical records according toestablished documentation standards. Prepares reports,correspondence, referrals, and other materials for schools,providers, payers, and others as needed. Assigning standardizedbilling codes and corresponding charges required for reimbursement
  • Identifying and developing clinical knowledge and skills throughparticipation in professional organizations, attending continuingeducation programs, peer review, and other related internal andexternal resources. Sharing knowledge gained from professionaldevelopment activities with the department.
  • Attending andcontributing to team meetings, patient care rounds, and otherinterdisciplinary forums and provides physical therapy consultationto physicians, outpatient clinics, and others as requested.
  • Participating in unit and department quality improvement programs.

Collecting and organizing data and assisting in preparingrecommendations to improve efficiency and quality of servicedelivery.

  • Serving as a clinical instructor in a departmentalstudent externship program upon completing eligibilityrequirements. Planning learning objectives and arranges relatedclinical experiences. Monitoring performance, providing guidanceand feedback, and preparing and conducting student evaluations.
  • May participate in departmental training and staff developmentprograms.

May supervise assigned direct reports, including physicaltherapist assistants (PTA) or rehab aides.

Minimum QualificationsEducation:
  • Bachelor’s degree in
Physical Therapy Experience:
  • Minimum of one year of pediatric hospital based PT experiencepreferred
Licensure/Certifications:
  • Physical Therapist license inthe state of MA New hires are eligible for a $5,000 sign on bonus!

This position will be in our Weymouth site (free parking!).
