As part ofthe ECU Health system of care, the hospital offers high qualitycare provided by more than 20 medical specialists, rehabilitationservices, a birthing center, a cancer center, outpatient clinicsand more.
Position SummaryProvides direct patient care by evaluationand treatment in patient population served according to age andcondition. Actively seeks to improve knowledge and skills of selfand others. Provides appropriate leadership. Meets competencyrequirements. Will also be involved in team dynamics andparticipate in interdisciplinary activities whenappropriate.
Responsibilities1. Provides direct patient care byevaluating, setting goals, designing treatment programs, performingtreatments, re-evaluating and modifying treatments, participatingin discharge planning and providing patient/caregiver education forpatients whom the therapist is qualified to treat, according to ageand condition, by virtue of training and orientation. Adjusts workload to meet the demands of patient care including the alterationof scheduled work hours including weekends. Is responsible for thesafety of patients assigned while they are in the patient treatmentareas and is aware of the overall safety conditions in the areas.
Unsafe conditions or actions are to be corrected and /or reportedto appropriate management staff. Actively participates insupervising students as deemed appropriate by thesupervisor/clinical coordinator.2. Completes documentationrequirements promptly, accurately and thoroughly according topolicies. Communicates and interacts with other health careprofessionals, patient/caregiver according to age group andbackground in an appropriate and timely manner through verbal,written or nonverbal.3. Meets clinical productivity standards.
Actively seeks to improve knowledge and skills by attendance atinservices and continuing education programs and shares suchknowledge and skills with others. Additional training/certificationas deemed necessary to practice in a specialty area as dictated bypatients’ ages or conditions.4. Assists in the development,revision, implementation and enforcement of policies andprocedures. Attends and participates in all mandatoryinservices/meetings. Assists in the orientation of personnel.
Actively participates in: establishment of program goals andobjective, establishment of program budget, staff utilizationincluding the supervision and delegation of portions of patientcare to appropriate personnel, space allocation, qualityimprovement and program development.5. Other duties asassigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Graduation with Bachelors, Mastersor Doctoral Degree from an APTA Accredited school of PhysicalTherapy
- Current valid license or eligible for licensure forPhysical Therapy by The North Carolina Board of Physical TherapyExaminersPreferred Requirements
- Prior experience in a hospitalsetting as Physical Therapist
