POSITION SUMMARY

The Bone and JointRehabilitation Services (BJRS) Physical Therapist (PT) isresponsible for organizing and conducting Physical Therapyinterventions to reduce pain, restore function, promote mobility,and prevent disability following disease, injury, or accident. TheBJRS PT works to provide high quality healthcare that establishesdiagnoses, prognosis, and develops a plan of care (POC) withshort/long term patient centered goals that fall within the scopeof PT practice. In addition, PT’s roles are to promote fitness andwellness oriented programs to promote health following dischargefrom skilled therapy. PT’s are expected to conduct allinterventions and communication with compassion, patient centricmindset, knowledge of current/emerging evidence-based techniquesand technologies, all the while being cognizant of costeffectiveness and ethical / legal guidelines.

POSITIONREQUIREMENTS

Formal Education /

Training:

Current / active licensurein the State of Tennessee.

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapyrequired; Master’s / Doctorate preferred.

Prior experience inoutpatient and / or sports medicine

PTWorkplace Experience:

PatientCare DeliveryDemonstrate ability to deliver positive andprofessional communication within the workplace

Equipment and SkillsTraining:

Able to work within the companies EMR system with accuracyand efficiency.

Able to work standard PC/fax, adjust necessaryexercise equipment for patient care activity.

Able to provide clear,skilled documentation for accurate and detailed charting andbilling processes.

Able to work well under pressure and functionindependently and as part of the Bone and Joint Institute ofTennessee (BJIT) team of physicians, physician assistants, medicalassistants, nurse practitioners, technicians, athletic trainers andphysical / occupational therapists.

Able to apply PT knowledgesafely and effectively to daily patient care.

Able to safely applyphysical agents required and recommended by POC.

PhysicalEnvironment:

Out-patient rehabilitation care in multi-disciplinaryteam rehabilitation settingMay be exposed to risk of blood bornepathogens/diseases.

Physical Effort:

Able to communicate clearly inEnglish written and verbally.

Prolonged standing, walking for lengthof work shift.

Frequently lifts, positions, transfers, and pushespatients.

Frequently moves supplies and equipment requiring moderatephysical effort (lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.).Manualdexterity and mobility.

Frequent reaching, bending, kneeling, andcrouching.

Occasionally removes or replaces supplies or equipmentweighing up to 25 lbs. from locations at or above shoulderlevel.

Lift and / or carry patients with necessary assistance /assistive devices in case of emergency evacuation.

PERFORMANCESTANDARDSPerforms initial and ongoing assessments related topatients’ conditions and/or plans of care.

Develops and establishestreatment plans based on standards of practice using aninterdisciplinary approach with patients, families, andstaff.

Demonstrates knowledge and ability to apply therapeuticprinciples and practices consistent with standards established bythe American Physical Therapy Association.

Progresses patientsthrough levels of treatment effectively and safely to maximizepatients’ outcomes.

Performs patient and family discharge planningincluding provision of accurate and pertinent education,establishment of home exercise programs, and submission ofappropriate discharge recommendations.

Consults with other staffmembers to coordinate physical therapy services.

Participates in theorientation and skill development of new team members.

Performstimely, thorough, and complete documentation of patients’care.

Maintains work areas and personal appearance in a way thatreflects professionalism and demonstrates cleanliness, orderliness,and safety.

Provides direction and guidance to students andtechnicians.

Participates in activities that improve departmenteffectiveness, processes, communication, and/or image in theorganization. This includes attending 75% of all staff /departmental meetings.
