Summary:
UNC Hospitals Rehabilitation Services is acceptingapplications for a full time, 40 hour per week outpatient PhysicalTherapist I position working with a variety of patients with afocus on adult orthopedics, sports medicine, post-operativeconditions and chronic pain. This candidate will work closely withan experienced group of physical therapists at our hospital basedAmbulatory Care Center PT clinic in Chapel Hill in a highlyrewarding position serving patients with many socioeconomicchallenges. Excellent time management, communication, andorganizational skills are required in this fast-paced environment.
The selected candidate will work Monday through Friday. OCS orResidency graduate preferred. Spanish speaking a plus, but notrequired.
This is professional level work involving the evidence-based evaluation of patient disabilities, planning, andadministration of physical therapy treatments. Incumbents completedocumentation instruct patients, families, and students andparticipate in clinical program development and management.
Clinician is expected to have involvement in the areas ofcontinuing education, departmental and community activities,outreach education and role of preceptor tostudents.
Responsibilities:
1. Diagnostic Testing
- Administers basic& complex diagnostic tests and evaluations in the area of PhysicalTherapy for the treatment of mobility disorders and relatedimpairments2. Education
- Teach & supervise graduate PhysicalTherapy students and/or clinical fellows/residents. Develops orcontributes to innovative programs to enhance patient care. Servesas resource consultant to other clinicians in respective specialtyarea.3. Evaluation of Care
- Analyzes results of diagnostic and ortherapeutic testing to establish patient goals and or modifysubsequent treatment programs. Identifies expected patientoutcomes. Communicates relevant information to promote continuityof care.4. Implementation
- Selects and applies current andadvanced techniques to provide quality and efficient rehabilitativeservices.
Provides habilitation/rehabilitation and maintenance ofpersons with mobility related impairments. Organizes andprioritizes care according to patient/family needs.5.Outreach/Community Involvement-Serves as resource to North Carolinagovernment departments and statewide health professionals inspecialty areas. Presents at local (university/hospital) or statelevel, participates in community health screening and events.
Participates in the development of new clinical programs to meetemerging needs in conjunction with the clinical specialist and/ordepartment director.6. Participation
- Contributes to quality ofclinical services through attendance and participation indepartmental meetings and in-services.
7. Quality-Contributes toquality of clinical services through maintenance of valid &reliable records of patient procedures & progress. Participates inquality improvement initiatives with the clinical specialist andother healthcare professionals. Participates in continuous qualityimprovement efforts in conjunction with the departmentdirector.
