POSITION SUMMARY
Provides treatments to patients by evaluating the function andselecting and applying appropriate treatments to improve or restorefunction. Participates in an interdisciplinary approach for inservicing and community education and in the clinical education ofaffiliating students. Potentially may be responsible for cross-sitecoverage.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- Graduate of an accreditedprogram of Physical Therapy with a minimum of a B.S.
- Must hold ora current Connecticut license in Physical Therapy.
- CertifiedManual Lymph Drainage Therapist required.
COMPETENCIES
- Thisposition requires an individual with strong English communicationskills, both verbal and written.
- Must have personal computerskills and be proficient in the use of Windows based programsneeded for department functions.
- Basic keyboarding and skill isdesirable, but not required, in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word,Excel and in search capabilities on the internet.
- Must haveaccess to reliable transportation to travel between multiple worksites; and travel is required in order to perform essential duties.

Conducts andmodifies evaluations based on the patient’s symptoms, level ofactivity, and medical status establishing individualized,appropriate, measurable goals for each patient. 3. Treats patientswith the appropriate and acceptable therapeutic exercises(strength, endurance, coordination, and ROM). 4. Administersphysical agents (modalities) and manual therapeutic technique torelieve pain and/or attain established goals. 5. Utilizes effectivetechniques to assist in normalizing motor activity and learning. 6.Educates patients/families in home exercise programs and/orfunctional activities in order to maximize independent functionalactivity. 7. Determines when a patient has achieved maximal benefitfrom treatment and recommends discharge if appropriate. 8.Documents in accordance to insurance guidelines and adheres to thedepartment’s policies and procedures. 9. Seeks and fostersinterdepartmental communication and communication with thereferring physician regarding patient care as evidenced byobservation, and chart review. 10. Accurately and consistentlyfills out and submits charges daily. 11. Adheres to theprofessional code of ethics established by the APTA and thefacility at all times as evidenced by observation. 12. Performs allduties with proper body mechanics and safety to prevent injuries.13. Supervises at least one affiliated student per year 14. Attendsa continuing education course to further/improve treatmenttechniques. 15. Participates in at least one departmentalin-service, or community in-service as evidenced by documentationof educational program. HPECHN
