Physical Therapy Technician Advanced Orthopedic Center 1641 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33948 Advanced Orthopedic Center has been serving patients in the Southwest Florida area since 1980. Our top-notch team of physicians and surgeons – along with our support staff of physician assistants, technicians and therapists – offer comprehensive orthopedic care to patients of all ages. In addition to treating our clinic’s patients, the surgeons of Advanced Orthopedic Center serve as spring training team physicians for the Tampa Bay Rays and the Atlanta Braves major league baseball team. Our entire staff is dedicated to providing courteous and caring service. We are currently seeking a Physical Therapy Rehab Tech to join our staff.
Summary:
Works under the direct supervision of Physical Therapist or Assistants, in accordance with state regulations. Assists in the productive operation of the Physical Therapy department. Rehab Techs often maintain treatment area and prep therapy sessions, aiding in the transport and mobility of patients.
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday 40 hours per week Occasional approved overtime based on special conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Transports patients to and from therapy area and assists therapists as directed to prepare patients for assessments and treatments
- Assists with the transfer activities and lifting of patients
- Assists with the placement and removal of splints as directed by supervising Physical Therapist
- Assists the supervising Physical Therapist to conduct both individual and group treatment as outlined in treatment plan in the areas of ADL, functional mobility, ROM, strength, coordination, cognitive/perceptual remediation and functional maintenance
- Maintains department equipment by cleaning, disinfecting, maintain orderly condition and reporting defective equipment
- Facilitates the smooth functioning of the department to which assigned by performing administrative tasks and clerical duties
- Confers formally and informally with other team members in coordinating the total rehabilitation program of the patient
- Responsible for reporting on the condition of patient/client to the appropriate supervisor and other staff members. Coordinate and assist with care as directed
- Clinical knowledge and skill, or ability to develop knowledge and skills required for evaluation and treatment of patients
- Responsible for performing tasks that are with the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures of AOC, other state and federal guidelines
Qualifications:
1+ years previous therapy experience preferred. High School diploma required. Experience in a hospital or clinic setting is a plus, particularly in orthopedics or rehabilitation. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals. Ability to demonstrate care and compassion towards patients during their recovery process. Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience as a physical therapy aide or similar role is advantageous but not required.
