A Brief Overview Provides direct patient care to all patients as well asdocumentation of care in accordance with policies and proceduresunder the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. Followsdirections and instructions for treatment and other tasks asdirected by the Licensed Physical Therapist. Provides care in aneffective and competent manner. What you will do Follows ethics and standards as defined by the AmericanPhysical Therapy Association and Avera policy andprocedures. Follows the practices and standards per the State Board ofMedical Examiners for the title of licensed physical therapyassistants. Provides treatments to patients in an efficient and timelymanner in accordance with the PT plan of care and physician’sorders. Communicates with the therapist appropriately to ensureeffective treatment. Produces appropriate, specific, clinical documentation forpatient care given and assists with scheduling and paperworkassociated with patient care. Documents progress notes in accordance with departmentalpolicies. Charges patient appropriately for treatments given on a dailybasis under the supervision of a licensed PhysicalTherapist. Assists with paperwork activities, files charts, and otherduties, which may include and not be limited to billing,documentation, correspondence and file management. Assists with clinical education of physical therapist assistantstudents. Essential Qualifications The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To performthis job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential job function satisfactorily including having visualacuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability tocommunicate effectively with others, hear, understand anddistinguish speech and other sounds.
