Full-Time Staff,Exempt Position Summary The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)Academic Coordinator is responsible for assisting in thecoordination and provision of high quality instruction andcurriculum development in the PTA Program. Duties includeinstruction in a variety of formats including classroom, lab,special topics courses, distance learning, on-line instruction andcoordinating and providing tutoring. The PTA Academic Coordinatoris classified as core faculty for reporting to the Commission onAccreditation for Physical Therapy (CAPTE). The PTA AcademicCoordinator assists in the coordination and support ofaccreditation projects, program surveys, program and course levelassessment, program analysis, student retention, and technologyintegration. This position is assigned 30 FLH total (fall, springand summer) and requires an in-person presence. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) isnot available for any position. Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22ndof each month. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay dateoccurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd. As an employee ofthe college, you are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package.

The collegewill annually review this restriction and, if appropriate, expandthe list of states of employment eligibility. Job Duties andResponsibilities PTA program instruction. This includes classroom,lab, on-line,video conference and special topics courses.
Coordinates and provides administrative support for the PTAprogram, Coordinates all aspects of the PTA program’s re-admissionprocess. Serves as the primary advisor to PTA students who arere-admitted to the program through special topics and learningcontracts. Coordinates and provides mentoring, tutoring, andadvising for all PTA students in the program. Coordinates, designs,develops, and updates curriculum and instructional materials fordiverse learning formats and methods. This is a 12-month staffposition This position is overtime exempt Conducts program andcourse level assessment that are compliant with AACC’s LearningOutcomes Assessment (LOA) and CAPTE required elements. Program Director or Dean RequiredQualifications:
Associate’s degree Current PT or PTA license, oreligibility, with the state of Maryland Ability to meetrequirements for faculty as outlined in the CAPTE standards,including a minimum of 3 years clinical experience as a PT or PTA.Strong human relations skills, including the ability to functioneffectively and tactfully with diverse populations such asstudents, administrators, faculty, staff and the public. Ability towork flexible 40 hour weekly schedule, including some evenings andweekends, to accommodate the needs of the PTA program and SHS. Mayinclude travel. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree Previous teachingexperience in a formal Physical Therapist Assistant program highlydesirable. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communicationskills, including ability to make oral presentations. Experience inteaching using a distance learning format.
