Overview:

The Physical Therapist Assistant assiststhe Physical Therapist in the provision of physical therapy. Theincumbent shall perform physical therapy procedures and relatedtasks that have been selected and delegated by the supervisingPhysical Therapist. The Physical Therapist Assistant may modify aspecific treatment procedure in accordance with changes in patientstatus within the scope of the Physical Therapist’s establishedtreatment plan. The incumbent documents patient progress notes. Theincumbent shall safety and effectively provide physical therapyprocedures as directed by their supervising Physical Therapist. Theincumbent shall address appropriately the age specific needs forall patients. The incumbent will treat patients and families withrespect and dignity. Patients pain will be assessed and treatedaccording to the departments pain management policy. It is thephilosophy of Mercy Hospital to optimize patients’ comfort whilethey are in the hospital. The incumbent will identify and reportany patient safety issue when identified. The Physical TherapistAssistant shall provide technical assistance and direction to thePhysical Therapy aide and coordinates the workload in thedepartment as directed.

Qualifications:

Education:

Associate’sdegree Licensure:

Current license to perform as a PhysicalTherapist Assistant from the Board of Physical Therapy in theapplicable State of practice.

Experience :

Physical TherapistAssistant may be entry level

Certifications :

American HeartAssociation Health Care Provider Basic Life Support Certification.
