Lymphedema experience strongly preferred What is Lymphedema Care? Lymphedema is a chronic condition involving swelling due to lymphatic system dysfunction, often following cancer treatment or surgery. As a PTA involved in lymphedema care, you’ll assist in delivering specialized treatments such as manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, therapeutic exercise, and patient education. This role requires attention to detail, gentle technique, and a compassionate approach to long-term care.
Overview:
Assist the Physical Therapist in delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care
Provide skilled interventions including therapeutic exercise, gait training, wound care, and modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation
Modify treatment techniques based on patient response, within the established plan of care
Deliver age-appropriate care across the lifespan-from pediatrics to geriatrics
Document patient progress clearly and promptly, including pain assessments and outcomes
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team
Support and guide Physical Therapy Aides and help coordinate daily workflow
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate degree from an accredited PTA program
Licensure:
Current PTA license in the state of Missouri
Certifications:
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Lymphedema or Oncology Care Certification strongly preferred
Experience:
Lymphedema experience is strongly preferred
