Job Description

Job Description MSS is looking for a passionate PRN Physical Therapy Assistant for our Skilled Nursing Facility in West Point, MS. MSS is a faith-based, non-for-profit organization that specializes in providing patient-centered care. The Physical Therapy Assistant (P.T.A.) performs physical therapy treatments under the clinical supervision of the Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapy Assistant participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing support and information within the area of Physical Therapy. Requirements Preferred Qualifications Minimum of one (1) year rehabilitation experience in a setting serving the same age/type of patient population served by this facility. Prefer active membership in the state and national American Physical Therapy Association. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program. Current license or eligible for license under statutes in the state of Mississippi. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Adequate computer skills in order to complete required job duties and computerized documentation. Ability to understand and follow the directions of the Physical Therapist and the policies and procedures of Methodist Senior Services. Physical Requirements Ability to walk, bend, drive, stand, sit and reach constantly during an eight (8) hour day/shift. Ability to speak and hear to understand and give directions. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess and monitor patient/resident needs, maintain accurate records, understand directions and recognize people. Fine and gross motor skills. Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and in the community. Work endurance ability to work eight (8) hour days/shifts. Ability to participate in sustained activity for up to three and one-half (3.5) hours at a time. Reading and comprehension skills for analyzing reports, charts and correspondence. Possesses highly developed communication and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information Working Conditions:

Typical therapy clinic environment. Requires ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends. Strong organizational skills in order to effectively maintain multiple projects simultaneously. Requires creativity as well as the ability to work independently. Ability to be discreet and maintain confidential information.
