Summary:

The Physical Therapy Technician provides patient care within established and verified competencies under the direction and supervision of the appropriate licensed staff. Responsible for mentoring Technicians and Students. Performs routine tasks related to the operation of the Rehab Services department. Collaborates with other healthcare team members and physicians in a multi-disciplinary fashion to deliver the highest quality of care. Participates in CQI activities. Facilitates the provision of excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

Patients and families: Provide patient care and information. Address concerns and complaints. Project a positive image of the department and hospital. Physicians and other healthcare team members: Promote coordination of care. Address concerns and complaints.

Community and Business:

Provide education. Promote department and hospital.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

High School Diploma

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

None.

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/ CERTIFICATION

Must be certified in-house within nine months of employment. Certification includes establishing clinical competencies and passing a departmental exam.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Analytical abilities to problem solve with positive solutions. Good interpersonal and communication skills required to facilitate interactions with stated customers and staff members.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, temperature changes and occasional noxious odors. Stressful work periods occasionally encountered.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Standing for most of the day lifting/assisting patients with transfers, bed mobility and ambulation as well as their exercise programs.
