A BriefOverview The Physical Therapist is responsible for planning andproviding physical therapy treatment for patients in accordancewith professional and Methodist Healthcare standards of treatment.

  • Performs initial patient assessment
  • Implements patient treatments based on assessment and writtenplan.
  • Provides ongoing patient assessment through observation ofpatient and review of records.
  • Identifies patient specificphysical therapy rehabilitation learning needs and providesappropriate education.
  • Demonstrates initiative in identifyingopportunities for self-development and enhancement of professionalcompetency. Education/Formal Training Requirements

  • Ability to understand and preparemoderately complex written materials, such as patient records.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with Associates, physicians andother outside professionals.
  • Ability to work without closesupervision and to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability toorganize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of workflow. Supervision Provided by this Position
  • There are nosupervisory responsibilities assigned to this position. May provideguidance and direction to therapy assistants. Physical Demands
  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing,pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling,stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance andcoordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are:medium work
  • exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/orup to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required tohave close visual acuity including color, depth perception, andfield of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients,preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing acomputer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • Frequent invasive andnon-invasive patient contact.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids aswell as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Ability toreact quickly to emergency situations.
