JOB PURPOSE
Working alongside physicians, this role involves conducting physical exams, diagnosing and treating patients, collecting and documenting data, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and coordinating laboratory studies and professional consultations for surgical patients. This role is also a key member of the surgical service line team, specializing in the care of post-operative and critically ill patients in hospital settings, as well as pre
- and post-operative evaluations in an office setting.
Responsibilities include delivering high-quality patient care, contributing to research, teaching, and consultation, as well as providing leadership within the organization. The position follows established standards and practices while promoting health and managing both acute and chronic diseases.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Conducts patient assessments, obtains health histories, and performs physical examinations, documenting findings in accordance with hospital and practice requirements. 2.Orders and interprets diagnostic tests, explaining procedures and expected outcomes to patients, families, and healthcare staff.3.Performs approved therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, using a variety of medical products and devices, and assists physicians in various interventions.4.Interfaces with patients with monitoring equipment and educates healthcare staff on proper use.5.Develops and implements treatment plans for the management of acute illnesses in collaboration with supervising physicians.6.Identifies and implements necessary interventions based on changes in patient status, including emergency stabilization.7.IRB-approved clinical research/trials through data collection, administering interventions, and reporting patient outcomes.8. - and post-operative surgical patient management and robotic surgeries, including minimally invasive vein harvest, thoracoscopy, and robotic-assisted surgeries.
9.Participates in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, and professional developmentactivities.10.Acts as a clinical expert and educator, providing guidance to nursing staff, healthcare teams, and the community.11.Enroll and participate in educational opportunities to further the knowledge base of the specialty, educates patients and families on disease states, treatment plans, and healthy living practices.12.Maintains comprehensive patient records, writes progress notes, and communicates findings with supervising physicians.13. Serves as a resource for the office clinical staff in the physicians absence.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a current Georgia and Alabama license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a masters degree in nursing, OR graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a current license for the Georgia State Composite Board.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
None.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW
Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Georgia and Alabama OR Licensed for Advanced Practice Nursing (ACNP, FNP, and WHNP). Updated NCCPA for PAs is required.
