POSITION SUMMARY
Medical Assistants support providers in ECMPF medical officesettings. They are multi-skilled, assume a wide range of roles andare viewed as vital partners in providing quality patient care andincreasing medical office productivity. Medical Assistants handleboth administrative and clinical duties and must demonstrate acuteattention to detail, accuracy, professional etiquette and superiorcustomer service and clinical skills at all times.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
Must have a high school diploma orequivalent, AND one of the following: Completed a Medical AssistantProgram OR Certification/Registration as an MA OR 5 years ofexperience as a Medical Assistant in lieu of being a Registered MA/or attended an MA Program OR 5 years of experience as a NurseAssistant, or a Certified Nurse Assistant with at least 1 year ofexperience
EXPERIENCE
Previous experience working in a medicalfacility is preferred.
COMPETENCIES
Comfortable working in afast-paced confidential medical environment. Must be team orientedwith excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledgeof common safety hazards and precautions to establish and maintaina safe work environment. Lifting physical ability and mobility towork in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods oftime; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist;to lift, care, push and /or pull light to moderate amounts ofweight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive handmovement and fine coordination. Ability to maintain workingrelationships and interact with patients and employees on a dailybasis. Reliable transportation and the ability to float to otheroffices when needed. Strong computer and keyboarding skills.

Greet patients and prepare themfor physician examination per established office protocol. Keepinformation in the patients chart current per establishedrequirements. Documents all sample medication dispensed in themedical record. Provide oversight to vaccine program followingState guidelines. Checks and restocks rooms with necessary suppliesand ensures exam rooms are prepared for the day. Keep inventory ofmedical supplies and report them to Office Coordinator/PracticeManager for reorder. Report malfunction of medical equipment toOffice Coordinator/Practice Manager. Properly cleans and sterilizesequipment and prepares surgical trays as indicated by thephysician. Assist physician/practitioner with office surgicalprocedures. Perform EKG and Spirometry as ordered. Report labresults to patients and follow through with any physicianinstructions to patients for follow up or change in medication,including scheduling appointment when necessary. Answer requestsfrom pharmacies for prescription refills per office protocol.
Prepare specimens and paperwork to submit to reference lab fortesting as directed my physician or midlevel. Instruct patients onhow to properly collect sterile urine specimens. On a monthly basischeck all medications (including samples) and appropriately disposeof expired medications. Obtain precertifications for tests,procedures, treatments, medications, and hospitalizations asneeded. Schedule and arrange referrals and outside testing forpatients as directed by physician. Maintain work area in a neat andorganized manner. Maintain appropriate documentation of compliancewith CLIA regulations. Primary Care staff participates in PatientCentered Medical Home Care Team collaborations. May be required tofloat to other offices and/or perform other duties as requested byManagement. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPPArequirements.
